Ask anybody, and they'll probably tell you that skirting is a pain, and the least favorite part of fiber preparation. It's time consuming, tedious and seems to be a never ending story. I love skirting! There is something about it that can't really be explained, it's my meditation. You get up early in the morning, with the birds, before it starts getting to warm. Get you table ready and line the fleeces up. A good cup of coffee by your side is a must. :-) Then you just start in one end, and keep going. There is something about having the fiber run through your fingers, the feel of it. Is it different this year than last year? The feel, the smell , the sound of the birds, and the humming from the boys in the background.... life can't get much better. And while you're at it, you start thinking of all the different project that you can line up. It's endless! What do I use the seconds for this year? What kind of yarn do I want? Should I make some felt? And then, before you know it, the day is gone, and you realize you didn't finish and get to spend another beautiful weekend doing what you love.
